First win at Monaco since 2001 for Ferrari!

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel won the Monaco Grand Prix after running a longer first stint than his team mate Kimi Raikkonen at a quicker pace, who qualified on pole and finished second.

The same ‘overcut’ strategy was also used by Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo to make up two places from his grid position and claim a podium finish.. Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen rounded up the top five.

The race had a high level of attrition, and a freak accident between McLaren’s Jenson Button and Pascal Wehrlein, who’s Sauber C36 ended up on its side with Wehrlein trapped between the car and the barrier for a few minutes. As a precaution, the German was taken to the medical centre, but was luckily uninjured.
