Lewis Hamilton wins dramatic German Grand Prix

The 2018 German Grand Prix started beautifully for Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, he got pole the day before with main rival Lewis Hamilton not able to finish qualifying and starting the race in 14th position. Vettel dominated the race until lap 52 when he lost control of his Ferrari on one of the few turns with no asphalt run-off area and hitting the barriers at Sachs Curve.

The safety car was deployed to clear Vettel's Ferrari, after a few laps it was green light again. Bottas tried to overtake Hamilton for the lead, but Mercedes issued team orders to maintain positions. The race finished with a 1-2 for Mercedes followed by Kimi Raikkonen and Max Verstappen.

There’s not much to say: I made a small mistake which had a huge impact on the result. I braked just a tiny bit too late for the corner, locked the front tires and then the rear ones, so that I couldn’t turn the car anymore. I think I had managed everything right before that. We had the pace and we had been in control of the race up to that point. It was my mistake, so I am disappointed, but I don’t think we still have to show what we can do. We’ve shown everywhere that we are competitive, so I am looking forward to Hungary next weekend.

That was the drive of my life. The most trying day and the greatest day. The most emotional day, probably. I’m exhausted and I put everything I had into the race. I always do, but I managed to have more and bigger today.
