Contrary to what happened in Australia, Bahrain was dominated by Ferrari, specially a brilliant Charles Leclerc, setting fastest laps in practice 1 and 3, and getting his first ever Pole Position, becoming the second youngest pole sitter in F1 history at 21 years and 166 days old. The youngest is his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, he was 21 years, 72 days old when he qualified in first place for the 2008 Italian Grand Prix.
The race started well for Ferrari, it was Vettel who arrived at turn 1 first, but Leclerc passed him soon thereafter, later, after a magnificent battle with Hamilton he spun his SF90, damaging a rear tire that resulted in a broken front wing due to excessive vibration. After his pit, he was able to recover and finish P5. Leclerc was dominating the race until an issue with on of the cylinders on his Ferrari robbed him of a win. He eventually finished P3, after Valtteri Bottas in second and a very lucky Lewis Hamilton in first.
