The Race That Never Was
The 2020 Australian Grand Prix will go down in history as the first ever race cancelled due to a disease. The Coronavirus has taken the world by storm, forcing countries to take evasive and harsh actions. There have been closures, not only of sporting and other crowd gathering events, but whole cities and vast areas in Italy, Spain, Germany, and many other countries around the globe.
Formula 1 tried to keep the event on, but a McLaren team member tested positive, and the team informed their withdrawal from the race. After many meetings between the involved parties, it was agreed that the cancellation of the race was the only viable solution to the issue, hence, the 2020 Australian Grand Prix, in their 25th anniversary at Melbourne, became the Race that never was.
Here's a collection of photos from the shortened event.
