Van der Garde reaches Sauber settlement

And so the drama around the Swiss’s team line-up and driver Giedo van der Garde reaches a conclusion. Van der Garde won two court rulings — first in Switzerland, then in Australia — to legally be entitled to race for Sauber in the 2015 Australian GP, after the team made a mess in having three drivers signed for this season since last year.

Van der Garde finally agreed to give up on racing for a settlement “ended by mutual consent”. The dutchman expressed his feeling “sad and disappointed” as his lifelong dream has been to become an F1 driver.

Many things can be said in this matter, both in favor and against the legal actions taken from parties involved, but at the end of it, at least they can now move on to upcoming activities, such as the Malaysia Grand Prix, on Sauber’s end.
